Right Brain art installation opens at Bank of America in Milwaukie

January 21st, 2011 by Sarah

Beginning with an unveiling ceremony this Wednesday, our new display at Bank of America will showcase student art, like this portrait quilt made by Ardenwald Elementary students in Milwaukie with resident artist Amy Steel.

Next week, the foyer of the Bank of America Oak Grove branch in Milwaukie will transform into a rainbow-colored diorama. This temporary installation, designed to look like a bright elementary school classroom, will feature evidence of the arts education programming we’ve brought to local K-8 students. The bank is just down the street from a few of our partner North Clackamas Schools, so we’ve focused the content of the exhibit around activity in the bank’s neighborhood.

Opening Reception and Check Presentation Wednesday, January 26, 3-4pm

We invite you to come see how students and teachers are engaging with Right Brain artists, and to show your support for the program. We’re excited that Tim Mills, the superintendent of North Clackamas Schools will be in attendance, along with staff of the schools we serve and officials from RACC. Roger Hinshaw, the President of Bank of America in Oregon & SW Washington, will also be there to present a check to Right Brain.

School districts + business + the arts community means that this project is one of our fullest expressions of how many local entities are required to play a role in this work if we’re going to make real change with our local schools.

While you’re at it, bring your friends and help us spread the word about The Right Brain Initiative. Oh, and did I mention there will be refreshments?

Last but not least, we’d like to extend a special Thank You to Bank of America, one of our ongoing funding partners, for their support. See you at the opening reception!

Reminder: If you can’t make the opening, the installation will be on display through March 31.
