Fort Architect

Design and build an indoor fort, castle, or other inhabitable structure. You can choose a building you admire from real life (or history) to inspire what you do. Round up what you can (with adult permission, of course) to create your structure: boxes, blankets, cushions, cardboard, chairs, box fans, string, good tape, or tents. As you build, see what you can do to create the interior (inside) spaces you like and can use for different purposes, as well as an interesting and inviting — or intimidating — exterior (outside) of your building. Have fun trying different arrangements and attachments. Test the limits of what your materials can do. If you have a box fan handy, try taping the edge of a sheet around it, and then weighing down the other edges with books or small heavy objects. Once on, the fan can inflate its own “room” of your fort.
