Some items from nature have pigments (particles of color) that you can use to make art. Go on a scavenger hunt to find grasses, leaves, and berries that have deep, rich color. Take time to identify what you are using, either by asking around or finding the items online. Find a scrap piece of muslin or other light fabric (or even paper). Arrange the items on one half of the fabric and fold the other half over. Pound the objects through with a small hammer or mallet. Continue until everything has been pounded flat. Open the fabric and shake away the debris to find a beautiful natural dyed collage. Now you can use what you’ve learned about natural pigments in your environment to make art anytime. Be sure to share your knowledge!
