Calling Volunteers!

The school year is when The Right Brain Initiative works its real magic, and we depend on volunteers to help us track the learning that takes place in all 31 schools we serve. That’s where you come in. We seek passionate, dedicated volunteers who have an interest in helping us record and evaluate the incredible work that our teaching artists conduct in K-8 classrooms. Fill out a volunteer application today for two upcoming opportunities. Then join us for the orientations at the end of this month.

1) STUDENT INTERVIEWERS
Help conduct 30-minute “Imagination Interviews” with students we serve, and see how they describe their creative learning process. Volunteers who have a background in education or arts learning, have worked extensively with children, and would be willing to submit to a rigorous background check should apply. Learn more about the Imagination Interview process.

Imagination Interview Orientation October 31, 10am – 1pm

(When filling out the volunteer application, please check “Student Interviews” in the Areas of Interest.)

2) PHOTOGRAPHERS
Through still photography, capture the delight of a child experiencing a brand new art form in the classroom. See your work online and in Right Brain print collateral, with proper photo credits applied! Photographers need to be able to provide their own digital equipment and upload completed photographs to a CD or online server. See examples of this work on Flickr.

Photography Orientation October 28, 10 – 11am

(When filling out the volunteer application, please check “Photography” in the Areas of Interest.)

We can’t wait for you to join our team!

**Right Brain is fortunate to reach a wide range of districts—five, in fact! That means that travel throughout the Portland tri-county area is part of the job. Volunteers for both opportunities will need to be able to provide their own transportation to our schools, and have hours available during the school day.**
