Remember the Brain Food project we announced a couple of months ago? The deck of imaginative challenges for children that we’re creating with AIGA Portland? Submissions are due September 27th (next week!), so we’ve planned a gathering to inspire one last round of collaborative brainstorming. We have to admit, we’re pretty excited about this one.
And you’re invited:
Brain Food Thinkstorm!
Tuesday, September 27, 2011
5:30pm – 7:30pm
This is a joint event of creative inspiration, education, and thinkstorming. You’ll have the chance to hear from local creative professionals and to help us dream up ideas for putting the arts at the hands of public schoolchildren.
The event will consist of two parts.
First, we’ll feature speakers from diverse industries that will share how vital creativity is to their work. Together, they will demonstrate why creative education prepares ALL kids for work in a complex future. These speakers are:
– Wendy March: Researcher and Interaction Designer at Intel
– Jerry Ketel: Father, Artist, Creative Entrepreneur and Founder of Leopold Ketel & Partners
– Audrey Forbes: Pediatric Occupational Therapist at Doernbecher’s Children Hospital
– Skip Newberry: City of Portland Economic Development Policy Advisor & Rick Nixon: Program Manager at the Bureau of Technology Services
In the second part of the event, we’ll collaborate in small groups to dream up Brain Food challenges for submission to the physical deck we’ll publish for distribution at area retailers and to the teachers we serve.
While this is a free event, please RSVP to: email@example.com.
Beer, wine and snacks will be provided.
*Special thanks to p:ear for donating the space for this event!
