Create a Play

Chapel Theatre will lead students through a theatrical learning process where teamwork, creativity, and imagination are activated. This collaborative theater class involves many elements of acting all rolled into one goal: To create a play together as a class.

Students will begin by learning elements of improv and scene work and then collaborate to create a play using character, plot and prop prompts. The class- all together or in small groups- will work to devise, develop, and practice original plays; and share them with each other. The focus of the residency is community building using drama activities and collaboration to create something new to share with each other.

We can also incorporate classroom material to integrate core content into the residency curriculum. For example, prompts and themes can centralize around concepts currently being covered in the classroom.

About the Artist

Chapel Theatre

Chapel Theatre is a professional theater venue in Milwaukie. They are home to acting and movement classes for youth and adults, artist studios, a recording studio, and weekly performances including plays, dance performances, comedy, improv, and much more.

My child talks about the class as being her favorite! This is the most excited she is for any of her extra curricular stuff and I feel she is getting more confident and better at explaining her wants and needs. Honestly, so lucky we stumbled on to this!
